PROYECTO FERIA DE CIENCIAS EN INGLES: DIFUSIÓN GELATINOSA

Jellies diffusion

Students understand hydrophilic colloid diffusion process
Diffusion is an irreversible physical process where material particles into a new media and is relies how molecules are moved from high concentration zones to where are similar ones
1.       1 lt of water
2.       A medium sized pot
3.       20 gr natural jelly
4.       A spoon
5.       Edible colourant
6.       Six Petri boxes
7.       1 plastic straw
8.       1 toothpick
1.       Boil water in the pot, add jelly until dissolved. Let it cool.
2.       Add the liquid jelly into a heat resistant recipient (Petri box) and let it cool.
3.       Cut 0.5 cm deep using the straw. Avoid reaching the bottom; use the toothpick to remove.
4.       Add a colourant drop to each hole of the recipient. Do it with the others.
5.       Get into the fridge one or two moulds. Leave the others in environmental temperature.
6.       Once in a while, check the time colourant is dispersed around the holes. How fast are they dispersed?
